KEIGHLEY Film Club has announced its spring programme of screenings at the Picture House, beginning at 6pm on the third Sunday of the month.

Club spokesman Alan Watkinson said: “As always we aim to include films of the arts, independent or social documentary genres that would not otherwise be screened in the town or surrounding area.

“Although our committee draws up a longlist of possible films, our supporters democratically choose the final selection usually in order of popularity. Our small membership fee also offers a discount on all the films screened at Keighley Picture House, though you need not be a member to see our films.”

The season begins in January 20 with Widows (certificate 15) which is set in contemporary Chicago amidst a time of turmoil. Four women with nothing in common except a debt left by their dead husbands’ criminal activities, take fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.

February 17 sees Cold War (15) depicts an impossible love story in impossible times. The Wife (15), on March 17, portrays a woman questioning her life choices as she travels to Stockholm with her husband . Lean on Pete (15), on April 21, follows a teenager who befriends a fading racehorse called Lean on Pete.
