A NEW series of meditation classes and retreats is starting at Keighley’s Buddha Land Centre, in Lawkholme Crescent.

From January 14 the centre will begin hosting New Year, New Direction sessions. The classes are at various times during the day and evening. Each class is self-contained and features guided meditations, talks and explanations of Buddhist views and wisdom.

Weekly topics include “Take a Step Back”, “Understand Yourself”, “Achieving Lasting Happiness” and “Develop Wisdom”.

The centre is holding a series of January retreats, with the next of these, called "Experience a Still and Peaceful Mind" to be staged on Saturday January 12 and Sunday January 13.

This will be followed by “Stop Worrying, Start Living”, on Saturday January 19 and Sunday Jan 20.

There is a Stop the Week Meditation and Meal on Friday January 25 from 7.30pm to 10pm, and there will be a meditation workshop from 10am to 1pm on Saturday January 26.

The centre’s World Peace Café is open from Tuesdays to Fridays from 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 4pm. The cafe will serve lunch and refreshments on Sundays to people attending the January retreats.
