KEIGHLEY people are being urged to put their best foot forward to boost the fight against Parkinson’s.

An annual Walk for Parkinson’s initiative is being staged, with events taking place regionally and across the country.

Behind the venture is Parkinson’s UK, which is appealing for people of all ages and abilities to sign-up.

The charity praises support given in the past by Keighley-area walkers.

They have helped raise more than £1.5 million over the past four years, to fund research into finding a cure for the condition.

“Walk for Parkinson’s events have already raised a phenomenal amount of money for the fight to find a cure and we’re now on the verge of major research breakthroughs that could end Parkinson’s for good,” said TV sports presenter and Parkinson’s walking ‘champion’ Dave Clark (pictured), who was diagnosed with the condition himself in 2011, aged just 44.

The nearest walk planned is at Hebden Bridge on June 23, starting at 10.30am.

Entry costs £12 for adults and £5 for under-16s, with a suggested sponsorship target of £50.
