THE local studies section of Keighley Library has re-opened to the public.

Bradford Council confirmed the first floor section of the library, which had been shut since Thursday December 20, was back in action again from this morning. (Jan 17)

The three and a half week closure was caused by the need for a structural assessment and repairs to the stone cantilever staircase on the Albert Street side of the building.

Bradford Council said it was advised by its Building and Technical Services that the Local Studies floor of the North Street property would need to shut temporarily to accommodate the work, adding the repairs were being treated as a priority.

Announcing the re-opening, the council spokesman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused while these works were carried out.”
