KEIGHLEY youth theatre KYDZ is staging its 2018 concert… in winter 2019!

The group’s 24 members, aged from nine to 19, will present their “concert spectacular” Dreams at Oakworth Methodist Church on March 9 at 7.15pm.

They will perform solos and chorus numbers from musicals, films, and pop charts from the 1960s to the present day.

KYDZ usually present a concert every October in addition to musicals and plays each March and July.

They had to switch to an alternative venue for two of their three shows last year while the Oakworth church underwent extensive refurbishment.

The group decided to give a low-key presentation of short plays last October, and postpone their annual concert until work was completed on the Methodist Church’s improved stage facilities.

The resulting show will feature songs from musicals like Jersey Boys, Ghost, Jekyll and Hyde and Wicked, along with hits by Little Mix, Abba, Katy Perry, Madness and Sia.

There will be a songs from modern school-set musicals like Matilda, Mean Girls, Bring It On, School of Rock and Be More Chill.

KYDZ also promises a sequence of popular songs from the hit movie musical The Greatest Showman.

A spokesman said: “We’re giving every member a chance to shine in the show, as well as showing the audience how strongly they can perform together.

“Much of the choreography and singing tuition has been done by our older members, who regularly get a chance to work on the production side of shows.”
