PEOPLE are being urged to get creative to celebrate this year's Tour de Yorkshire.

A fourth annual land art competition has been launched ahead of the acclaimed cycle race, which takes place from May 2 to 5.

Schools, community groups, businesses, landowners and farmers are all being encouraged to get involved.

The artwork lines the route of the race every year and is seen by millions of TV viewers globally.

A new online entry process has been introduced, making it easier for people to take part.

Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of organiser Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "The people of Yorkshire do us proud each year with the effort they make with their land art and last year their hard work was shown off to 12.5 million TV viewers around the world.

"I always say the Tour de Yorkshire is so much more than a bike race and this a perfect example of how it can bring people together to celebrate their communities."

The fourth stage of this year's race – on May 5 – takes in Haworth, Oakworth and the classified climb of Cote de Goose Eye, before heading to Sutton, Glusburn, Cross Hills, Farnhill and into Skipton.
