AS IF by magic, Haworth actors and singers have raised £730 for Manorlands.

The money came from a production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera The Sorcerer presented by Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateur Operatic Society.

The group raised the money through raffles during performances last November.

Choir spokesman Ian Dobson said: “The society has a long history of supporting local charities with show raffles and were very pleased this year to support Manorlands who do such great work in our local area.”

Group members are now preparing for their spring concert, entitled Les Musicales, which will be performed in the Baptist Church on May 3 and 4.

Haworth’s annual Gilbert & Sullivan show will be Iolanthe, which will be performed November 11-16 in memory of the group’s late musical director Terry Lofthouse.

The group would welcome new members either on or off stage, who should contact secretary Janet Bastow on 01535 603065 for further details.
