A CARE home has gone to the dogs – and it’s delighted!

A canine talent show was staged at Anchor’s Townend Close scheme in Cross Hills.

The event featured dogs belonging to staff and residents’ families.

Categories included naughtiest dog, the most obedient, cutest and the best at performing tricks.

Judging was carried out by residents Bill Mason, Bessie Watkins, Brenda Redman and Noel Wilkins.

Townend Close manager, Sharon Mackie, said the event was a huge success.

“This was a fun show for everyone involved and especially for those who used to have their own dog,” she added.

“We know that being able to pamper and stroke dogs really helps relieve stress for older residents.

“Anchor has a policy where people can move into the care home with their pet, so we welcome many four-legged friends at Townend Close. You can see how it really makes their day when residents interact with pets.”
