THE FULL Monty is returning to Leeds Grand this month following its hugely-successful tour of the UK.

The play, written by former Glusburn man and Oscar-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy from his own hit film, can be seen from March 25 to 30.

The Full Monty tells the story of six out-of-work, impoverished steelworkers from Sheffield with nothing to lose.

The play, while not a musical, features the film’s iconic songs from the likes of Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.

The cast will again be led by Gary Lucy, winner of Dancing On Ice and star of TV series Hollyoaks, EastEnders, The Bill and Footballers’ Wives.

He performs in The Full Monty alongside Andrew Dunn (Dinnerladies, Bremner, Bird & Fortune) as Gerald; Louis Emerick (Coronation Street, Benidorm, Brookside) as Horse; Joe Gill (Emmerdale) as Lomper; Kai Owen (Torchwood, Hollyoaks) as Dave; and James Redmond (Hollyoaks, Casualty) as Guy.

Joining them will be Liz Carney as Jean, Amy Thompson as Mandy, Bryonie Pritchard as Linda and Keeley Fitzgerald as Sharon.

Through these women we see the other side of the story, the challenging journeys they face to stand by their men and how they ultimately take their hats off to them all.

The Full Monty is Simon Beaufoy’s first work for the theatre. His screen credits include The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Salmon Fishing in Yemen, Battle of the Sexes, and the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire.
