JUDSON’S was a cottage that overlooked a level field in a curve of the North Beck.
It served as a refreshments stop for walkers along the beck.
One such visitor was Sir Isaac Holden, at the age of 89.
In the 1960s it was known as the Newsholme Dene cafe and was frequented by teenagers who made use of its jukebox, until the absence of a music licence put paid to that.
Images have been provided by Keighley and District Local History Society, and the information compiled by chairman Joyce Newton and archivist Tim Neal.
The history society was formed in 2004 on the 100th anniversary of Keighley’s Carnegie Library. Its mission is to preserve and share the town and surrounding area’s heritage.
It has guest speaker meetings every second Wednesday of the month in the Keighley Local Studies Library, from 7pm.
