WE now have a wonderful green space in North Street where the old college building used to be.

Let’s keep it that way – can we get a green belt order on it?

Perhaps we could have a bandstand cum performance area there, a few benches, some gardening, small ornamental trees and shrubs etc.

And how about we call it Dewhirst Green after our late-lamented friend and Keighley icon, Ian?

Did I hear that Bradford Council was thinking of spending £19m, money that it has not got, on a council ‘hub’?

We do not need such a building when there are perfectly good buildings crying out for development nearby – the remainder of the former college and the former police station.

Some folk have branded the Cavendish Street college building as an “eyesore”. No, it is quite a smart building - I did meet the architect - it is only an eyesore because it is not in use. Let’s keep it. We are bound to find a use before long.
