SCHOOLS and business across Keighley came up with a wonderful array of fundraising ideas for Comic Relief.

Red Nose Day brought fun to establishments such as Oldfield School, Keighley Laboratories and Parkside School.

Students and staff at Parkside School, in Cullingworth, raised £1,800 for Comic Relief.

Spokesman Majella McColgan said: “We had a very busy week fundraising and students rose to the challenge once again!

“We started with the teachers’ Lip-Sync Battle, in the hall on Wednesday lunchtime, with students paying £1 to have a good laugh at the teaching staff!

“On Friday it was a non-uniform day with students paying £1 to come to school in their own clothes. We then had a bake sale organised by the Sixth Form, and activities and fun in the Sports Hall.

The Parkside School fundraisers included Prabheet Chaal, Reece Wiseman and Henry Jepson.

Employees at Keighley Laboratories Limited, in South Street, joined in the fun of Red Nose Day by holding a cake sale, raising a tasty £191 which was rounded up to £250 by the company.

Keighley Labs HR manager Celia Duxbury said: “This is the first fundraising event of this type that’s been organised at our workplace.

“The response from cake bakers has been brilliant and we received lots of donations, with plenty of tasty goodies on sale. We also ran the sweepstake competition that was included in our Red Nose pack, so even the dieters amongst us could join in.

“It was a great excuse to get together and have some fun whilst raising money for worthwhile causes. All in all, it’s been a real success and congratulations to everyone who joined in.”

Oldfield Primary School celebrated Red Nose Day by the children dressing up as red as they dared. They were also asked to find their spare change to fill in a Red Nose Day logo, completing the task with ease and raising £90 for Comic Relief.
