A MODEL-railway group is staging an open day.

The Aire Valley Railway Modellers Club is opening the doors of its clubrooms – in Melbourne Mills, Dalton Lane, Keighley – to the public on Sunday, April 7.

The free event – between 10am and 4pm – will feature at least 19 layouts in various gauges, from T to OO.

Among them will be the 3mm-scale Aireworth, which features a number of painstakingly-built Keighley landmarks.

Others operating will include the huge N-gauge layout Calderdale – which has representations of Bradford Exchange, Halifax and Sowerby Bridge stations – and Cleggworth, based on Holmfirth with scenes from popular TV programme Last of the Summer Wine.

Several layouts have appeared in the British Railway Modelling magazine.

There will also be model railway sales, refreshments and a tombola in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The club was founded in late 2015.

Membership has grown to nearly 60, and there is an active junior group.

Meetings are held – on the second floor of Melbourne Mills – every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 11pm, and on Saturdays between 1pm and 5pm.
