A FULL Monty night raised £2,000 for Dementia Friendly Keighley.

Haworth woman Leah Ogrizovic organised the fundraiser with the help of family and friends.

A group of local men volunteered to re-enact an iconic scene from movie The Full Monty where out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers take up stripping.

The event at Keighley Playhouse, in Devonshire Street, also involved performances of songs from musicals.

Leah’s mother Allison said: “Dementia Friends Keighley have a fantastic group of volunteers who have been so wonderful and have given our family so much help and advice during the last year.

“They have helped us give my mum, who is living with dementia, the best support we can give her.”

Leah, who has played principal roles with Keighley Musical Theatre Company including the lead role in Hairspray, was joined in singing with Carmelina Bagarozza, Nigel Passey and Alyssa Keene.

The Full Monty men were James Windle, Nathan Kerr, Laurence Lorriman, Tobias Garbutt, Adam Muzyka, Liam Barnes, Richard Gardner and Mathew Douglass.

Choreography was by Leah’s sister-in-law Kristy-Rose Granger, and Allison, Emma Thompson and Hannah Williams also helped. Family, friends and local businesses donated raffle prizes.

Dementia Friendly Keighley is a voluntary organisation that works to change the way local people think and act about dementia.
