THE CHEESIEST evening of the spring is on offer in Oakworth on May 15.

Cheese-eating fanatic David McGlinchey will present his latest McGlincheese: Creating Cheese evening at the Branshaw Golf Club in Oakworth.

He loves cheese so much that he formed a company to sell award-winning ‘artisanal’ products from cheesemakers like Teesdale Cheesemakers and Yorkshire Squeaky.

He said: “The evening will have guests tasting whole truckles of cheese, collected fresh from the farm.

“There will be demonstration on how to make your own cheese, hot cheese dishes, and a general knowledge quiz.”

Mr McGlinchey used to run the Alternative Disco in the early 1980s in Keighley, helping bring bands like Southern Death Cult, New Model Army, Hah Wobble, The Shakes and Skeletal Family to the stage.

He said he regarded his cheese evenings as the "gig where cheese is the star”.
