AIREDALE Hospital’s maternity department is delivering its second annual open day.

The free event takes place in the Steeton hospital’s education centre on Saturday, April 6.

There will be a variety of information stalls, a raffle, tombola and face painting.

People will have the opportunity to tour the maternity facilities, take part in parent education taster sessions and chat with some of the midwives.

There will also be a baby photography booth.

Midwife Gemma Sayer, who has helped organise the event, says it is an opportunity to celebrate the work carried out across all the hospital’s maternity services.

She said: “We really enjoyed putting on the open day last year and can’t wait to have an even better one this time!

“Whether you’ve had a baby at Airedale in the past, are currently pregnant or just generally interested in the maternity services we offer, you are more than welcome to come along.”

Head of midwifery, Sarah Simpson, said it promised to be a “fantastic” event.

She added: “A lot of hard work has gone into the planning. I’m really proud to work with such an incredible team of midwives and midwifery staff, who have done an amazing job.

“There will be something for all the family, with games and face painting for children and lots of useful information for parents.

“Money raised from the raffle and tombola will go towards soft furnishings and equipment for the unit.”

The open day runs from 10am to 4pm. Free parking will be available.
