A FORTHCOMING voluntary group meeting will hear the personal stories of people who have markedly improved their health by adopting a low carbohydrate diet.

One of Low Carb Skipton’s key missions is to show how huge strides can be made by diabetics who boycott sugary foods and vastly reduce their carbohydrate intake while increasing the consumption of healthy fats.

The group has members from Craven, Airedale and Wharfedale.

One of those who has done just that will tell Monday’s meeting (April 8 ) how his blood sugar levels have dropped significantly.

Another, who has had a series of heart problems, will describe how severely restricting his sugar and carbs intake has brought about major health improvements. He will also talk about his decision to stop taking statins.

Discussions will also be held at the meeting where others can talk about their dietary approach and how it has - or has not - worked.

Low Carb Skipton founder and food science professor Verner Wheelock said: “More and more people attending our group meetings are reporting radical improvements to their health as a result of the diet we recommend.

“What’s happening inside our group in North and West Yorkshire is a mirror to what’s going on across the world with an increasing number of scientists, nutritionists and doctors backing the low carb approach. We still need to convince more GPs but we’re now making real progress.”

The meeting will be held at the Rendezvous Hotel on Monday, April 8, at 7pm. Everyone is welcome to the monthly meetings and afternoon meetings are held for those who cannot attend in the evenings.
