HEALTH chiefs are urging people across the district to use the right service if they feel unwell over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
NHS Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) warns that GP practices will be closed.
But it says many pharmacies will be open and that they provide “a good first port of call” for anyone who is unwell.
CCG clinical chairman, Dr James Thomas, said: “We can all do our bit to make sure we stay well and help our NHS over the bank holiday weekend. By choosing the right service, we can ensure that provision is there for the people who need it the most.
“For common health conditions such as coughs or colds, your local pharmacist can provide help and advice on the best treatments.
“You can also find information on common illnesses and injuries by visiting the NHS website at nhs.uk. The site will also help you locate your nearest pharmacy.
“If you’re unsure or have an urgent – but non-life-threatening – health need, the friendly teams at NHS 111 will be able to assist.”
