CLASSIC coming-of-age movie Dirty Dancing is at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax this week.

Dirty Dancing– The Classic Story on Stage, running until Saturday, April 20, is part of the theatre’s new season.

The story of Baby and Johnny, which starred Patrick Swayze on the big screen, features the hit songs Hungry Eyes, Hey! Baby, Do You Love Me? and the worldwide hit (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.

Peter Pan is this year’s Easter pantomime, bringing comedian Bobby Davro and Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer back to the Victoria Theatre with Disney Channel star Lloyd Warbey.

The show, which is performed on Thursday, April 25 at 2pm and 6pm, promises impressive music, energetic dance routines, lots of laughter and flying.

Comedian Deborah Frances-White will host The Guilty Feminist: Live at the Victoria Theatre on May 1 with several guests. The Guilty Feminist is a comedy podcast that has had more than 60 million downloads since it launched in December 2015.

Deborah and her guests discuss their noble goals as 21st century feminists and their hypocrisies and insecurities which undermine those goals.

The Victoria Theatre has this month launched its spring/summer season featuring something for everyone, from comedy to dance, family shows to music, as well as shows direct from London’s West End.

Thehe first-ever Spring Into Comedy programme features a week of comedy events in the theatre’s intimate Green Room Bar on May 18-25. The line-up includes Tom Binns as inept yet adorable radio DJ Ivan Brackenbury on May 19, and the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre with Roll Up on May 24.

The theatre’s main comedy programme features Bill Bailey, Al Murray and Russell Kane all performing in the main auditorium. Classic children’s stories We’re Going on a Bear Hunt (May 2-5) and The Tiger Who Came to Tea (July 19-21) will both return.

Musical nostalgia comes from The Bootleg Beatles, The Drifters and Big Girls Don’t Cry (Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons), along with the Solid Gold Rock n Roll Show and Lipstick On Your Collar with 50s and 60s hits.

The season also includes singer Jane McDonald, SAS leader Mark “Billy” Billingham, and Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton in Burn The Floor.
