AUDIENCES being taken on the ultimate adventure this month as Leeds Playhouse stages Around the World in 80 Days.

The fantastically fun new production, with a cast of four actors playing dozens of characters, is at the Playhouse’s Pop-up Theatre until April 28.

The adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic novel is described as full of joy, mayhem and madcap adventure.

The actors undertake daring escapades and fantastical physical routines inspired by circus and Vaudeville, in performances adapted by Toby Hulse from the novel.

The show stars Leeds Playhouse ensemble members Joe Alessi, Robert Pickavance, Dan Parr and Darren Kuppan.

Around the World in 80 Days is the story of dapper Victorian gent Phileas Fogg who wagers he can circumnavigate the globe using only steamer and rail in just 80 days.

The show runs until April 28 then will be followed by a community tour to eight community partner areas within the Leeds City Region in May.

The current season at Leeds Playhouse will end next month with Amanda Whittington’s Be My Baby, in association with Mind the Gap theatre company, exploring shame, teenage pregnancy and female friendship in the 1960s.

Around the World in 80 Days is described as a fast-paced production packed with jolly jokes, daring escapades and swift costume changes.

Leeds Playhouse is hosting its 2018/19 season in a pop-up theatre on the existing Playhouse site, whilst a capital redevelopment project of the original building takes place.
