CROWDS came out in force for the Tour de Yorkshire today to cheer on the world’s best riders.
Haworth was again a magnet for cycling fans and sightseers with Main Street lined three deep or more on both sides to see the likes of Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish and local heroes Scott Thwaites and Peter Williams.
And the rest of the route through the Bradford district drew thousands for Stage 4 which decided the fifth edition of the cycle race.
Luckily for all those who flocked to the roadside the rain and wind which dominated the first three days held off.
The route took the riders from Halifax past Queensbury, Denholme and Oxenhope to Haworth, all the way welcomed by large crowds and Yorkshire flags being flown high.
From Haworth the route went through Oakworth and Goose Eye and on to Sutton, Cross Hills, Skipton and the Dales, returning via Otley where the climb up the Chevin was due to help decide the winner of the race on the day and overall.
