A CIVIC delegation visited the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.
Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Zafar Ali, and his counterpart from Lincoln – Councillor Sue Burke – headed the group.
Among those also present during yesterday’s visit to the famous five-mile line were the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, Paul Laurence, and Bradford’s Lord Mayor designate Cllr Doreen Lee.
The party was welcomed by railway volunteer David Petyt.
They then travelled from Ingrow West Station to Oxenhope, where Cllr Ali had the chance to step onto the footplate of a steam locomotive.
Earlier, the civic party had attended a service at Centenary Square in Bradford to remember the 56 people who lost their lives in the Bradford City fire disaster 34 years ago.
The tragedy occurred during the final game of the season, between Bradford City and Lincoln City, when the Bantams were celebrating promotion.
During the service, Bradford City chaplain Pastor Oliver Evans spoke of the impact that day had on his own family and those of all supporters at the ground.
