STEETON and Eastburn residents are being invited to join the villages’ joint parish council.

Two vacancies on Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council are open to anyone who lives, works or owns property within three miles of the villages.

Parish council chairman David Mullen said eight existing members and one returning member were re-elected earlier this month.

He said this left two places for two more people. adding: “If possible we’d like to get some younger people on the parish council – our age demographic is 60-plus and we’ve all done 10 years or more.

“We want people who are keen to get involved in council work – we don’t want people who just sit once a month and do nothing.

“They don’t have to have experience, we want people who are interested in the village and village activities.”

Anyone interested should send their contact details and a short personal summary to the council clerk before noon on Wednesday May 29.

The clerk can also be contacted for information about the role of a parish councillor in advance of an application.
