A MUM-and-daughter completed a canalside sponsored walk to raise money for charity.

Michelle and Roisin Vink tackled the 18-plus miles from Keighley to Leeds, along the canal towpath.

The duo, from Riddlesden, covered the route in about six hours 40 minutes.

Together they raised £1,250 for a Catholic Care project to help the elderly.

Michelle, a community development worker with the charity, said: “Social isolation for older people is so prevalent in our own communities.

“The mission of the charity is to take caring into the community, offering practical services and support for anyone who is disadvantaged, vulnerable or marginalised.

“We host lunch groups, exercise classes, knit and natter sessions and more.”

She thanked everyone who supported their fundraising walk.

“It was a lovely day – the weather was perfect – and we made it!” Michelle added.

“We’re delighted with the amount raised and are grateful to everybody who gave their support.

“We were aching a bit afterwards, but there are people unable to take part in things like this.”
