Bagging a bargain at car boot sales in Bradford and beyond....

The warmer weather brings with it the willingness to spend more time outdoors and what better way to spend a Sunday (or even a weekend for those enthusiastic devotees) at the local car boot sale.

I say local but those who are ardent bargain hunters will even go the extra mile, travelling further afield to extend their purchasing potential.

Most of us love a good rummage around the stalls and rails pitched up in fields, on car parks or community places and if you're a car boot devotee now is the time to start hunting.

Of course, car boot sales are also a good excuse to have a clear-out of clothes that no long fit or have fallen out of favour.

However, it often comes at a cost when you have a browse round other stalls and end up returning home with more than you left with!!!

In this technological age in which we live in - when we don't have to step foot over the threshold to purchase goods, it's somewhat refreshing that people still put in the effort, getting up at the crack of dawn - although many car boot sales start and finish later in the day - to exercise their spending power even if it's for a few pounds.....

And how satisfying it is when you can reflect on the purchases you have made - and for the snip of the original price.

From relatively new goods to old fashioned vintage and retro, car boot sales generally offer something to suit the tastes of every bargain hunter - you just need to have a keen eye; patience, dedication and the confidence to do a bit of bartering too!

Car boot sales generally start in Spring - although there are regular car boot sales later on into the year too - you just have to know where to look. * Leeds and Bradford airport car boot sale runs every Sunday from March until November at Greengates Farm, Otley Old Road, LS18 5HY. Sellers arrive from 6am and 8am.
