A RIDDLESDEN couple enjoyed a slice of luck when they ordered tea and cake following a walk in the Yorkshire Dales.
Tony and Carol Walker’s order turned out to be the landmark 30,000th taken at the Buckden tearoom and B&B since it started using purpose-printed bill pads 15 years ago.
And as a reward, the delighted couple – who had been strolling around Cray, Yockenthwaite and Hubberholme – received a box of cakes to take home.
Lynn Thornborrow – who runs West Winds Tearooms and Walker’s Lodge with her partner, Stephen Hounsham – said: “It has been a real pleasure to serve so many people over the years, but thank goodness they didn’t all come in at once!
“The thought of all the washing-up involved is enough to make anyone shudder!”
