THE Toucan event organised by Nick Smith and his friends at Central Hall, Keighley, on May 18 was indeed a pleasure to visit, with some delightful folk getting together to show how much mental health in our community is everyone's business.
In these challenging times it did my heart good to meet so many people of all ages making such an effort in all sorts of ways to raise our awareness.
All kinds of information leaflets, together with the chance to listen to people's experiences, provided a real learning curve particularly for 'senior moment' types such as myself.
A picture drawn by a talented little girl of a colourful toucan reminded us that we 'too can' try to get through, not the least if we realise that there's a great number of kind people in 'our corner' in the difficult times we all at some stages of our lives will encounter.
