HAWORTH is turning back the clock to the Swinging Sixties.

Scooters, Minis, mop tops and beehives will be the order of the day as the village stages its annual 1960s Weekend.

A host of events is being held both next Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23.

Activities will be based around Central Park, but with additional attractions in Main Street and other parts of Haworth.

The packed programme includes a variety of bands and entertainers.

Among those lined-up are Shine, SR Dance and Cheer, Bazzmatazz Dance Studio, Hustle Tone, a ukulele group, Sawdust, Dynamix Performance, Last Orders, The Avros, The Reaction, 1960s Four and The Fabs.

Performance times will be listed in a programme, which will be available priced £1 from the control tent near the bandstand.

Also in the park there will be stalls, a children’s fairground, scooters, cars, food outlets and bars.

Fancy dress group photos will be taken both days.

Dedicated car parking is being provided at Haworth Primary School's all-weather pitch behind the village hall, in Butt Lane. There will be a £5 charge for all-day parking, with proceeds being shared between the event and the school.

Funds are being further boosted by H&L Fashions, which is donating a three-piece suit – worth £320 – to be won. Tickets are available from the shop, at the top of Main Street, and can be obtained at the event itself.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "It's a free event but not cheap to put on, so there will be plenty of buckets for donations – and raffles and tombolas both days.

"We’re asking people to bring bin liners to collect their own rubbish and reduce clearing-up. We pride ourselves on leaving the park clean and tidy at the end of each day and appreciate everyone’s help with this.

"We are very grateful to everybody who has donated prizes, consumables and time etc to help us put on the event, and to Haworth Primary for allowing us use of its all-weather pitch.

"We'd appreciate any extra manpower on the days.

"Donations of toilet rolls have been received, to help reduce the costs, but it would be great if people could donate more.

"Also, there is room for more classic vehicles at the event if anyone has one they would like to show."
