BOOT Camps in Cliffe Castle Park are proving popular with Keighley fitness fanatics.

Outdoor sessions aim to help people kickstart their fitness regime or prepare for holidays, weddings or sporting events.

Instructor Joe Kutny promises participants will quickly improve their strength, endurance and fitness in a fun and friendly environment.

Joe, who has 30 years’ experience in the fitness industry, said: “The first classes were completed with fun and enthusiasm by all the participants.”

Joe plans two further six-week blocks of classes, beginning on June 30 and September 15 and running on Sunday mornings from 10am to 11am.

Joe said the exercises were designed with functional fitness in mind, strengthening upper body, lower body and core muscles and improving cardiovascular fitness. They would help weight/fat loss as part of a healthy eating plan.

Joe said that unlike in a gym workout, the boot camps were run outdoors and usually in good weather in the summer months.

He said: “This means it enhances the enjoyment of the session due to creating a feeling of being in the outdoors in the fresh air.

“There is also a great sense of fun and camaraderie amongst participants which results in a great friendly atmosphere.

“Exercises may be be body weight exercises or using real world equipment such truck tyres, park benches or steps. This makes the workouts more interesting and different to a typical gym workout.

“Although the exercises are intense, participants are still able to exercise within their own abilities, and I teach coach safe and proper technique and adapt exercises to suit.”

Dan Palmer, the Heritage Arts Officer for Bradford Council, said Joe’s boot camps were proving very popular.

He added: “It’s been fantastic to see so many coming along to Cliffe Castle to exercise in the grounds.”
