NEW sessions for people newly diagnosed with cancer are being run at the Skipton centre of the charity, Cancer Support Yorkshire.
There will be two new sessions every month at the centre in Otley Street with the first due to take place on Wednesday, July 17 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and on Wednesday, July 31 from 10.30am to 12 midday.
Debi Hawkins, Skipton Support Centre manager said “Anyone who is ever given the news “it’s cancer” will be absolutely shocked and scared. There are so many variants and in the immediate aftermath of the diagnosis there will be a long round of tests, treatments and appointments and information which can often overwhelm them. These new support sessions will be somewhere for people to find out what kind of support is available, to meet others going through the same thing and to meet the team at the centre.”
She added: “Clients often report that meeting up with others was a real source of support and took away some of the isolation that can be felt during those early days.” Contact the centre on 01756 228088 or email d.hawkins@csyorkshire.org.uk
