A COMMUNITY group is offering over-55s the chance to learn how to use hi-tech devices.

Worth Connecting will give tuition on using tablets, iPads, laptops and smartphones at Hainworth Wood Community Centre.

Worth Connecting spokesman tutor Andy Sheppard said the eight-week course, which begins on Tuesday July 16, would be in a friendly and relaxed environment.

He said: “Worth Connecting is a Lottery Community Fund project helping older people get online, to improve access to services such as doctors’ surgeries, local authority services and money saving comparison sites.

“Our trained volunteers also help older people learn to keep in touch with friends, relatives and activities locally.

“There is no charge for the support and nothing is required to get started. You can use your own device or borrow one of our tablets.

“No experience or knowledge is necessary, we will teach you how to find information, take photos, use email and follow your interests.”

Sessions will run from 10am to 11.45am at the community centre on Hainworth Wood Road, on the Woodhouse and Spring Bank estate.
