A SILSDEN dental company is celebrating after securing another export market.

EthOss has appointed a dedicated distributor in Estonia.

This means its innovative product EthOss, a material which encourages new bone growth during dental implant procedures, is now available in 40 countries across the globe.

And in a positive sign for the company, the distributor sold out of its initial order and had to immediately order more.

The latest move follows the company’s recent announcement of a trio of global deals in Spain, Israel and Colombia.

The deals were secured following the International Dental Show (IDS), held in Cologne, Germany, in March, where EthOss exhibited.

At the time, Dr Paul Harrison, managing director, said: “The agreements and our increased presence at IDS this year are testimony to how fast our product is growing and the reputation it is establishing around the world.”

On the latest announcement, he said: “We are thrilled to have a partner in Estonia, which becomes our 40th international market, as we continue to grow EthOss around the world."

The company has experienced rapid growth over the past year, with exports up 148 per cent.

Dr Harrison added: “Over the last year the company has signed agreements with distributors in countries including Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Jordan, Australia and New Zealand.

“Our innovative synthetic bone graft technology for dental implantology provides an alternative to the animal-based products (usually cow bone) which have historically dominated the industry, marking a massive step forward in a market which has been relatively static for almost 20 years.

“It is fantastic to see this being embraced globally.”

The EthOss product is a fully-synthetic material that works with the body to create the ideal conditions for bone regrowth, without using animal or human content.

It is made from a mixture of beta Tricalcium Phosphate and Calcium Sulphate.

The Calcium Sulphate acts as a built-in barrier against soft tissue ingress, removing the need for an additional collagen membrane.

This is a very popular feature with dentists who often find collagen membranes difficult to handle and an expensive addition to a procedure.

The product is mixed into a paste and applied to the surgical site using a simple syringe delivery system.

Once applied, EthOss becomes firm and forms a semi-rigid graft providing a highly stable scaffold, leading to impressive clinical success rates of 50 per cent new bone after 12 weeks.

The company was founded in 2013 in Silsden by dental implantoligist Dr Peter Fairbain and Dr Paul Harrison, a biomaterials expert.
