MIDSOMMAR is the next American folk horror film to hit the big screens on July 5.

The certificate 18 film is written and directed by 2018’s Hereditary director Ari Aster.

Christian and Dani, a young American couple played by Jack Reynor and Florence Pugh, are having trouble with their relationship.

After Dani suffers from a personal tragedy, the couple decide to go on a vacation to rural Sweden.

They go to a fabled Swedish midsummer festival with their friends, Mark and Josh, and visit the small village that is hosting the festival held once every 90 years.

Unknown to them, the festivities comprise violent and disturbing pagan rituals, and the locals insist that they join in.

This one looks like a cross between Wicker Man and The Blair Witch Project so I’m really looking forward to it!

Annabelle: Comes Home (15) is the third Annabelle film and the seventh instalment in the Conjuring Universe franchise.

But when the doll awakens the room’s evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, her friends , and of course their young babysitter.

According to Wikipedia, the films, dramatise the real-life cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent yet controversial cases of haunting.

The main series follows their attempts to assist people who find themselves possessed by demonic spirits, while the spin-off films focus on the origins of some of the entities the Warrens have encountered.

Having made a combined $1.6 billion worldwide, it is the second highest-grossing horror film franchise ever behind Godzilla.
