ROTARY will be in the spotlight at an event in Haworth.

The Haworth & Worth Valley club is staging an awareness day.

Visitors will be able to learn more about the organisation and the work of its members.

The event takes place at St Michael and All Angels Church on Saturday, July 20, between 10am and 3pm.

“It is a chance for people to come along and see some of the projects we support and discuss with members how we have an impact on so many people’s lives – both in the local and international community,” said a club spokesman.

“People can learn more about our work supporting those affected by disasters and getting communities back on their feet.”

Projects supported include Days for Girls – which increases access to menstrual care and education – the Rotary End Polio Campaign and the Rotary Peace Programme.

Initiatives locally the club is involved in include the sensory garden at Oakworth, and more volunteers are welcome to help maintain the site.

Admission to the awareness day is free and refreshments will be available.

Visitors are also invited to take along any old pairs of spectacles they may have, to deposit in a Vision Aid Overseas collecting box.
