A HAULAGE firm has been fined more than £17,500 for spilling offal on three separate occasions in Keighley last year.

The Haulage (Holdings) Organisation, based in Halifax, was prosecuted for the spills by Bradford Council.

The first occurred on April 12, 2018, when a lorry transporting animal by-products spilled its load on the A629 in Keighley, having collected the offal from HCF Poultry in Cullingworth.

The second was on August 13 and again involved HCF Poultry waste, when a foul smelling pink liquid was leaking from a lorry on the same road.

The third was on August 29, again on the A629, with police and the public both reporting the spillage of animal waste.

All three lorries belonged to the firm, which was ordered to pay fines of £14,000 following a guilty plea, along with costs and a victim surcharge taking the total amount to £17,559.
