BASEMENT will play contemplative alternative rock anthems with the gusto of a hardcore band at Leeds Festival on August 23.

The Ipswich punks, described by critics as essential, intelligent and a force of nature, are said to sound like “Jimmy Eat World via Soundgarden”.

Basement recently completed a huge North American arena tour as guests to Weezer and Pixies, and will fit their Leeds appearance amongst a headline tour of the UK.

The band’s current album entitled Beside Myself has featured as leading music magazine Kerrang’s album of the week, and went on to feature in Rock Sound and Upset’s albums of the year lists.

Basement’s last full UK tour included a 2,300-capacity London show at the O2 Forum Kentish Town, and they also played the New Cross Inn earlier this year in celebration of Independent Venue Week.
