THE REBORN Oakworth Show was even bigger and better in its second year, say organisers.

The village’s traditional horticultural and handicraft show was revived last year at Oakworth Village Hall.

The event was held again this month, giving residents a chance to show off their skills at cooking, handicrafts and gardening.

This year saw nearly 200 entries in both adults’ and children’s categories, a significant increase on the numbers for 2018.

Visitors were able to buy homemade cake in the hall's pop-up tea room, or enjoy a burger from the barbecue, and the hall's licensed bar was open throughout the afternoon.

At the end of the day many of the exhibits were auctioned off by local auctioneer Graeme Lister to contribute funds to the village hall which is run by a local trust.

Ruth Payne, a member of the volunteer organising committee, said: “It was great to see so many people at the show, whether as competitors or people who just came for a look round and some cake or a drink.

“We had some amazing entries, both from experienced competitors and beginners, and we're already looking forward to next year.

“More and more people are becoming interested in traditional crafts and skills, and events like this show that residents are keen to demonstrate what they can do.”
