KEIGHLEY farmer and butcher Chris Herd snapped up the top sheep at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Chris bought the supreme champion butchers’ lamb carcass for his C&L Herd butcher’s shop in Queens Road, Ingrow.
The animal had been reared by J Collier of Denny Hill, Oakworth, before being sent to the region’s biggest agricultural show.
Chris serves Worth Valley ward on Bradford Council as well as the Ingrow and Bracken Bank ward on Keighley Town Council.
Beginning his career as a butcher’s boy after school, he now lives on a farm in Oxenhope with wife Linda, who runs the bakery side of C&L Herd. Chris has three children.
He is a committee member of Keighley Show, and on his farm rears cattle, sheep and chickens.
