AN EXHIBITION showing the district’s once-loved mills and abandoned attractions in a new light has opened at Cliffe Castle Museum.

Shipley photographer Simon Sugden’s The Beauty In Decay features 17 photographs inspired by derelict architecture where nature has begun to take over.

A keen urban exploration photographer, Simon has travelled around the country looking for interesting derelict buildings.

He has photographed many of the district’s best-known old buildings, including the former Odeon, Conditioning House, and High Royds Hospital.

Visitors to the free exhibition on Saturday, July 27, will have the chance to talk to Simon at a special Meet the Artist session from noon to 2pm.

Simon, who is a member of the Telegraph & Argus Camera Club, said: “I’ve been doing photography now for ten years.

“I want to show the beauty in decay. With decay some derelict buildings seem to get a new lease of life.”

The Beauty In Decay runs until Sunday, September 8.
