A FAMILY fun day will be held on August 25 to support a woman overcoming bone cancer.

Proceeds of the event at Oakworth Football Club, which includes a six-a-side football tournament, will help pay for house adaptations for Gemma Wilkinson.

Gemma had to have her left leg amputated after contracting osteosarcoma cancer, and needs special facilities such as a wet room and accessibility improvements.

Local charity Lifecare UK is organising the fun day as part of the “Let’s get Gem back on her feet” fundraising campaign.

Activities will run from noon till 5pm at the playing fields off Goose Cote Lane, with bouncy castles, a balloon artist, face painting, henna artist, stalls, food, raffle and ice cream.

Lifecare UK spokesman Tahir Hussain said: “We want to raise vital funds to help Gemma adjust her life after losing her leg. This life-changing event has turned the world upside down for her young family of three children.”
