ORGANISERS of a Veg Fest ploughed ahead with the event despite atrocious weather.

And they paid tribute to all those who braved the conditions to attend Saturday’s activity.

The Cabbage Club hosted the event at the Keighley Urban Meadows, on the North Dean allotments.

It was designed to encourage more people to get involved in the club’s outdoor community centre project, generate interest in a new wildlife preservation scheme and launch a Keighley Town Council allotment surplus giveaway initiative.

Attractions included cooking demonstrations and a range of food.

Group treasurer, Pamela Sykes, said: “I think everyone had a great time – in spite of the weather!”

Pip Gibson, the town council’s community development project co-ordinator, said some outdoor games had to be cancelled but that it was a successful day.

She added: “It was great to see so many people of all ages braving the conditions to come along.”
