OAKWORTH Village Hall was spruced up as villagers got stuck in for a Working Day.

The 15 residents worked on a long list of tasks ranging from sorting shelves full of goodies to giving the entire building a deep clean.

One of the top priorities was for the volunteers to lay the floor in the new extension of the former Holden Hall.

The event, organised by hall trustee Luke Ferrey, was one of several working days held over the past few months.

Luke said: “The floor is now down, the hall is looking smart and tidy and the extension floor is down and is now safe. We can begin to think about moving onto the next stage and it’s all down to our amazing grafters.”

“We have such a wonderful community of people who are dedicated and immensely proud of our village hall.

“They’ve spent countless hours volunteering and are always asking for more. We can’t thank them enough for the hard work they do for us.”

Luke urged Oakworth villagers to get in touch if they wanted to help in future.

He added: “We are currently on the lookout for anyone who can help us get some plaster boards to finish the next part of the extension.”
