TWO charity music events which had to be cancelled earlier this month due to bad weather have been rearranged.

Both Rock the Castle and Proms at the Castle were scheduled to take place on August 10, but heavy rain and a forecast of stormy weather forced organisers to pull the plug.

Now the events – at Cliffe Castle Park, Keighley – have been reorganised for Saturday, September 14.

Proceeds are going to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice, Manorlands.

Sue Ryder event lead, Andrew Wood, said: “Our volunteers have done a great job of quickly reorganising the events. We have managed to keep most of the original bill in place and where bands and singers couldn’t make it, we have been lucky to bring in some great new acts.

“Two of these are for the Proms at the Castle event. The City of Bradford Brass Band will now take the place of the Tewit Silver Band. And we are delighted to announce that the 100-strong locally-based Voices of Yorkshire choir is performing. Tickets ordered for the original date are still valid and we hope that even more people will be able to attend on the new date.”

Most acts performing at the Rock the Castle event in the afternoon have recorded tracks for a Music for Manorlands album, being produced by Paul Reynard at the Jam on Top studios in Keighley.

Mr Wood adds: “Thanks to sponsorship by Keighley Town Council, the afternoon event is free to attend, but guests do still need to order tickets in advance from sueryder.org/rockthecastle. For the proms event, people can order tickets form sueryder.org/promsatthecastle and local Sue Ryder shops.”
