A NINE-year-old Long Lee boy sold his toys at the roadside to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Rye Cyhanko-Hawker, who attends St Anne’s Primary School in Keighley, set up the stall with 14-year-old sister Neamh.
Rye said: “We have a friend in Scarborough and his wife isn’t well because of cancer and the Macmillan nurses have been really helpful and supported them both.”
Rye’s mother Raschelle Cyhanko-Hawker said her son wanted to sell some of the toys he didn't play with anymore, and give the money to charity.
She said: “After a discussion he wanted the money to go to Macmillan Cancer Support. He and his sister set up the stall and I put it on Facebook.
“The response of Keighley folk was amazing. People saw it and came to buy toys. One guy came just to put a tenner in the tub as he was so impressed with what Rye was doing.
“As parents we are unbelievably proud and amazed at what Rye and Neamh achieved. Our family haven't directly needed to use this support from Macmillan, but hearing about how our friends have benefited from it prompted him.”
Rye raised £84, which parents Rashcelle and Malc topped up to £150 for Macmillan.
