A CREAM tea struck a chord with guests.
Even torrential rain couldn’t put a dampener on the event, held to raise funds for a Rotary Keighley Young Musician competition.
Gazebos in the garden were ditched as more than 60 guests packed into the home of Dick and Judy Hazlehurst.
“There were tables and chairs distributed all around the house – including the third-floor bedrooms!” said a Keighley Rotary Club spokesman.
The event raised about £350 for the competition, which will take place at Keighley Shared Church on Saturday, November 16. Anyone under 18 with a musical talent, either for playing an instrument or singing, is invited to enter.
Entrants will be grouped by age and the winner of each class will receive a cash prize, plus the chance to represent Keighley at regional finals early next year. The contest is part of a national venture staged by the Rotary clubs of Great Britain.
