WHEN I was in Keighley recently doing some family history research in the Local Studies Library I was struck by contrasting scenes in front of the library.

They were just finishing demolition of the Technical College building; all that remained was the sign for the building.

I can remember when the previous building on the site was demolished and replaced with the 1960s monstrosity!

Let’s hope any new building matches the beauty and durability of the library which is enhanced even more by the splendid, well-kept gardens opposite.

I took these two photos, with their contrasting scenes, from almost the same position.
