PATIENTS at Holycroft Surgery headed outside for some nature therapy while waiting to see their doctor.

Woodland Wellbeing was the title of the innovative session at the Keighley GP practice as part of efforts to provide a more relaxed feel to the waiting room.

The Modality practice has also introduced the No Worries Café as part of its new feelgood Friday routine.

Holycroft believes the activities will help certain patients and individuals with mental health, social isolation and anxiety issues.

Keighley Sunshine and outdoor specialists Get Out More CIC teamed up with the Modality GP practice at Holycroft Surgery to run the sessions.

Eric Yaffey, of Keighley Sunshine, said: “The No Worries café gives patients who are a bit anxious or agitated the chance to sit down and have a chat over a cuppa before their appointment.

“It helps them get calm and focused on what they need to tell the doctor.”

Louise Joyce, the Patient Services advisor at Holycroft, said: “The waiting room is a happy chatty place on a Friday and it’s great to have such a positive vibe in the morning.”

Woodland Wellbeing sessions will continue for adults, every Friday at 1pm from September 13. In future the venue will be at the play area in Parkwood Street.
