FEMALE cyclists from Keighley are being invited to steer a course to a conference.

The event is being held to celebrate the start in the district later this month of the UCI Road World Championships women’s elite race.

The cycle-themed conference will include presentations, workshops and information stalls.

There will also be a chance to try cycling yoga and take part in rides at Lister Park, plus a bike maintenance station is being set-up.

Attendance at the conference – at the Dubrovnik Hotel, Bradford, on Thursday, September 19 – is free, and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Although the event – between 9.30am and 4.30pm – is specifically aimed at women, anyone can attend.

People are encouraged to cycle to the venue, where secure bike storage is available.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for people to get together, develop local and regional networks, share and celebrate experiences and enjoy practical cycling activities. Women’s cycling is on the up and this conference is the ideal chance for people to celebrate this.”
