THE WELCOME Project is offering over-55s in Keighley a further chance to learn how to use computers and other devices.

Andy Sheppard from the project led an initial course at the Hainworth Wood Community Centre during the summer.

He said: “The success of the course has meant I am now offering two free courses for residents in Keighley and surrounding district during the autumn months.

“Over-55s living locally can learn how to use tablet devices, ipads, laptops and smartphones in a friendly relaxed environment.”

The tuition is part of Worth Connecting, a Lottery Community Fund project helping older people get online to improve access to services such as doctors’ surgeries, council services and money-saving comparison sites.

Andy added: “Our trained volunteers also help older people learn to keep in touch with friends, relatives and activities locally.

“There is no charge for the support and nothing is required to get started. You can use your own device or borrow one of our tablets.

“No experience or knowledge is necessary, we will teach you how to find information, take photos, use email and follow your interests.”

The first course will run at the centre, on Woodhouse Road, for eight weeks from Tuesday October 8, from 10am to 11.45pm.

Another course will run at East Riddlesden Hall for six weeks from Wednesday November 6, from 10am to 11.45am.
