A HUGE field of 120 senior and 167 junior runners toed the start line to tackle the varied terrain at the Embsay Fell Face.

The senior race was won by season champion, Mercia’s Simon Bailey, in an impressive time of 18.32, from Wharfedale Harriers’ Harry Coates (18.59) and Ilkley Harriers’ Jack Cummings (19.04).

The ladies race saw some unfamiliar faces on the podium as Ilkley’s Rachel Carter won (24.42) ahead of Catherine White (26.36) and Bingley Harriers’ Sarah Flaherty (26.43).

The under-17 race was depleted as many of the familiar faces were absent due to other racing commitments. Race winner was Bingley’s Alex Flaherty (21.55) in a time that would have placed him 13th in the senior race. Second and third boys were Barlick’s Jack Villiers (22.51) and Pudsey and Bramley’s Declan Walker (23.59).

Telford’s Maggie Preece (24.57) won the girls' race in a time that would have placed her second in the ladies race. Cumberland’s Emily Swarbrick (27.28) took second place ahead of Clayton-le-Moors Hannah Eccles (31.44).

Ambleside’s Charlie Allmond (13.16) won the under-14 race from Keighley and Craven’s William Hall (13.27) and Trawden’s William Walker (13.57).

The girls’ race was won by younger sister of the under-17 boys’ winner, Bingley’s Rebecca Flaherty (15.32) ,making podium finishes a family affair. Otley’s Charlotte Rawstron was second girl home (15.41) ahead of Horwich’s Emma Bradley (16.37).

Ambleside’s Rowan Ashworth (9.00) won the under-12 race from Bingley’s Logan Walker (9.07) and Ilkley’s Alexander Wolfenden (9.14).

Girls’ race winner was season champ, Barlick’s Lucille Pickles (9.57), with Otley’s Charlotte Chambers (10.00) second and Cumberland’s Zoe Brannon (10.29) third.

The familiar face of Barlick’s Isaac Reeday (4.32) won the under-9 race from another familiar face, Settle Harriers’ Carl Sanderson (4.40) and Keighley’s Joe Timbers (4.42).

First and second girls were Wharfedale clubmates Elena Hooper (4.47) and Isobel Patefield (4.53). Third girl home was Chorley’s Millie Reid (4.53) after a split second sprint finish.
